Sketches from Back in the Day

The inaugural post! Here are some sketches while I was still in college over at Art Center. I believe they're circa fall of 2004. It's been a long while, and they hold up decently. The Inktober challenge reminded me how much I missed working with natural medium.

The majority of my work now is done almost exclusively in digital. Work demands faster turnarounds so drawing on paper and scanning it slows down the work pipeline a bit. I've been fortunate to be able to use a Cintiq, but that wasn't always the case.

Soo...back to the drawings. The majority of the sketches were done on site. The places are all local to Southern California. The Arboretum in Arcadia, Angeles National Forest, Natural History Mueseum, Travel Town in Griffin Park, The Nethercutt Museum, and The American Military Museum are the locals these were sketched at. The class was Dyanmic Sketching, taught by the late Norm Schureman. He was a great teacher and inspired many a students.

Hopefully I'll update the site regularly with actual concepts and not sketches from way back when. Check back often!
